What is Vanaprastha?-
The Indian Vedic tradition was of living:
-from age of fifty years onwards in 'vanaprastha ashram' i.e withdrawing from society and family,to develop the habit of spending time in solitude introspecting and spiritual enlightenment.
Of course such clear demarcated living is not possible for everyone in today's world. Yet this ancient Vedic Indian system has its merits even today. Especially the ' Vanaprastha' The literal meaning being vana i.e forest and prastha i.e proceeding to. The symbolic meaning being, retiring to a secluded place to connect to one's inner self. Spouses together took to vanaprastha and assisted each other in the process or even individuals opted for this.
This is very good for the individual as well as society. For the individual as he / she gets an opportunity to discover their inner self and the society gets the benefit from seeking counsel of more enlightened beings
In today's scenario the long stay offer is suited to those doing research, creative thinkers, nature lovers, spiritually inclined, as also those who need a place to return to time and again to make up for the toll that city life takes on them.
For the above mentioned purposes, we know that a short break would not do, a longer stay is needed to imbibe the vibrations present at The Satvik Resort.
We have kept the charges much lower in comparison to our other packages as we understand that a person interested in long term stay is not on a holiday budget.
Though this is not businesslike for us to discount so heavily, yet, because we believe in the goodness of this work, we offer a few rooms, knowing that the regular flow of business through other rooms of the resort shall compensate for this
The Satvik Resort offers for those interested in the Vanaprastha stay, the following facilities:
- A suite of the resort, chosen by you, reserved for you for the duration of your booking..
You can stay alone or with a companion or come and go as convenient to you
- The resort shall look after the maintenance and upkeep of the accommodation, be it the plants in the balcony or regular change of linen.
- Satvik vegetarian meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner shall be served in the restaurant located beneath the accommodation or can be served at your room. Hot water flasks are provided in the room for you to make the hot beverages if required. Tea, coffee, milk and sugar sachets are provided in the room itself.
- You can use the library facilities, yoga hall,
meditation room and the lounge located at the level above the
accommodation.An experienced spiritual guide is present at The Satvik Resort to assist you with yoga/ meditation .Just In case required, a physician too is available on call
- You get access to the garden areas of the resort.
- You can avail the ayurvedic kutir facilities for ayurvedic, aromatic or reflexological massage at a fifty per cent discount. (Presently the resort charges Rs.750/- for a forty five minutes ayurvedic massage and Rs.400/- for a half hour aromatic or reflexological massage.
- Free car trip to the town daily. The town of Bhimtal has most of the daily needs in its markets and the shopkeepers get specific orders executed.
About Bhimtal
Bhimtal is 270 kms from Delhi and can be easily accessed from road or train in e few hours time.
The town of Bhimtal has come around the ancient lake, presently known as Bhimtal, literally meaning the great lake. The ancient Indian scriptures mention this lake as Brahma sarovar meaning the creator’s lake. Legend has it that Rishi Chywan lived here and reached perpetual youth. Indian shops are full of gooseberry jelly bottles being sold as Chywanprash, presumably the herbal formula used by Rishi Chywan to get eternal youth. The point missed by the sellers and users of these bottles is that it was the place, the air and water which did the major work. Even now there are springs in the lake where people dip in to cure themselves of health ailments.
The lake is half a kilometer from the resort.
In the hill across the resort is Hermann Gmeiner School set by the famous Austrian philanthropist better known for setting up SOS villages. On the other end of Bhimtal lies the district government secretariat.
Bhimtal town has a government primary health care centre which is right now being upgraded to a senior hospital status with various diagnostic facilities added. The hospital is less than a kilometer from the resort.
Nearby - Haldwani a major town twenty kilometers to Bhimtal's south has practically all urban facilities and consumer goods. There are many old and upcoming hospitals poviding state of art facilities.
Nainital - a famous tourist destination is twenty two kilometers to Bhimtal's west.
The famous lakes of Naukuchiatal ,Sattal,are about ten, fifteen kilometers respectively.
In sixty kilometers radius lie the renowned towns of Mukteshwar, Ranikhet and Almora.
Booking options:
The booking for one set of accommodation can be done singly or jointly by upto six persons. The accommodation can be shared as per the mutual convenience of those booking it jointly.
OPTIONS - For Year long stay or a month or multiple month long stay
A-Classic Vanaprastha Stay. Year Long Stay
The charges for The Classic Vanaprastha Stay are Rs.three hundred thousand per year (about US$ senty five hundred) for use upto two persons.at any given point of time.
For longer stay upto ten years the rate can be worked out on a yearly increment basis or a one time payment of Rs.thirty hundred thousand at the beginning itself.
B. Modified Vanaprastha Stay.- food plus option – Year Long Stay
– If you are uncertain about the duration of your stay and would not like the food component to be included in the Vanaprastha stay, the charges would be Rs. two hundred thousand per year (about US$ five thousand) for use upto two persons.
Food would be charged at Rs.200/- (US$ 5 app).per person per day (pl refer facility 3 mentioned above).
Vanaprastha Stay Idle resource utilization option – If you let us know the definite dates that you would not be using the booked accommodation, we can use the same for the resort’s clients, who come for Satvik holidays, nature retreat or yoga training. For the days your booked room would get occupancy, we shall pay double the amount received from you, for those days calculated on a pro rata basis.
For example If you have chosen option B and given two hundred thousand rupees, the per day amount comes to Rs.548/- (US$ 14 app) For each day your reserved room has been occupied by the satvik programme clients' you shall receive Rs.1,096/- .(US$ 28 app)
In a year if your reserved room gets occupied by Satvik programme clientele for even six months then you would be getting back Rupees two hundred thousand from us - which would make your stay for the rest of the year absolutely free.
C. Month lor multiple month long stay
Some of you may not be able to commit for an extended period of an year. For such persons we have introduced this plan.This plan is limited to a few rooms only. First come first served basis
There is progressive reduction in charges in this plan.
1. For one month - Rs.Fifty thousand per month. - all features as mentioned in our plan above, for one person inclusive of food. For a companion the additional charges would be there of Rs.250/- per day towards food.
2. For two months - Rs. eighty thousand - all features as mentioned in our plan above, for one person inclusive of food. For a companion the additional charges would be there of Rs.250/- per day towards food.
3. For three months - Rs. ninety thousand -all features as mentioned in our plan above, for one person inclusive of food. For a companion the additional charges would be there of Rs.250/- per day towards food.
4. For four months - Rs. one hundred thousand - all features as mentioned in our plan above, for one person inclusive of food. For a companion the additional charges would be there of Rs.250/- per day towards food.
5. For six months - Rs.one hundred and twenty thousand - all features as mentioned in our plan above, for one person inclusive of food. For a companion the additional charges would be there of Rs.250/- per day towards food.
