What is The Satvik Lifestyle Management ?

The Vedic philosophy believes that all life has come from a disturbance of equilibrium of three aspects of nature; Satvik as symbolized by calmness, wisdom and good nature; Rajsik as symbolized by restlessness, impatience and intolerance; Tamsik as symbolized by laziness, ignorance and foolhardiness.

In any living being these three aspects exist in varying proportions. A person is thought of Satvik, Rajsik, or Tamsik depending on which aspect is dominant in him.

We believe that by judicious use of wisdom a person can ensure that it is the Satvik nature that is predominant in him.

The Satvik lifestyle management is an adaption of simple, tried and tested principles of Yoga & Ayurveda in our daily lives. Their greatness lies in the fact that even practitioners of varied faiths or for that matter even atheists can imbibe its salient features in their daily living and reap the benefits there from.

What does Satvik lifestyle entail?

Appropriate to an individual:-

  1. Appropriate Diet
  2. Appropriate Work.
  3. Appropriate Rest.
  4. Appropriate Spiritual practices.
  5. Appropriate Daily regime
  6. Appropriate Exercise, i.e. Customized yoga programme, integrated to contemporary living.

During the programme we guide an individual with respect to:

  1. Appropriate Diet: To bring about a balance of the elements and making it conducive for yoga practices. By determining the prakruti of an individual and considering his age, domicile, etc. a list of favorable and unfavorable foods is given. To help in this, a few recipes are provided and if need be preparations as per the recipes are given to sample.
  2. Appropriate Work.
  3. Appropriate Rest.
  4. Appropriate Spiritual practices.
  5. Appropriate Daily regime:
    With lifestyle counseling, based on Vedic principles, also inputs from philosophies such as Shrimad Bhagwad Geeta; Upanishads, Teachings of Himalayan Masters.
    Recommendations to the purvakarma (oil therapy) of Ayurveda for flexibility as well as de stressing and if required as a prelude to panchakarma for detoxification.
    For those interested - advice based on Vaastu shaastra, Jyotish (Astrology) would be given.
  6. Appropriate Exercise:
    To develop a schedule of 45 minutes to 90 minutes for an individual to use yogic techniques of asana, pranayama, mudra, bandha, etc. as a discipline or and as a therapy.
    Based on the needs and ability of the individual,
    1. the appropriate yogic techniques are chosen for the individual.
    2. the chosen techniques are customized to suit the individual,
    3. the pace of practice is set,
    4. the frequency of the practice is determined,
    5. the duration of each technique is set.
    6. the associated breathing pattern is set,
    7. the individual is made aware of the focus of attention and the sound vibration that aids each technique.
